Tessitura to Financial Edge (FBA) Implementation Roadmap

A typical implementation roadmap for integrating Tessitura with Financial Edge using FBA (Financial Bridge Automation)

Pre-Implementation Requirements

Before implementation begins, Tessitura users or FBA clients (referred to as the Client below) should confirm the following information regarding their Tessitura environment:

1. Tessitura Version

  • Current FBA clients are running Tessitura versions 15 and 16 in production.
  • FBA is compatible with Tessitura version 12 or higher.

2. Hosting Environment

Confirm whether the Client's Tessitura system is hosted in the Tessitura Cloud or deployed on a self-hosted server.

3. Database Permissions

  • Confirm whether the Client has permission to create stored procedures in the Tessitura SQL Server database.
  • If not, the Client must request this permission from Tessitura Support prior to implementation.

FBA Implementation Steps

1

Trial Account Setup

  • The Client contacts Art Digit to request a FBA organization trial account.
  • A two-month free trial is available for the Basic plan.
  • New organization account is typically created within one to two business days.
2

Stored Procedure Configuration

  • The Client sets up the FBA transaction-retrieval stored procedure in the Tessitura database.
  • This process usually takes only a few minutes.
  • Consulting services are available if assistance is needed.
3

Tessitura API User Setup

  • The Client creates an API user in Tessitura for FBA access.
  • This step normally takes minutes, with optional consulting support available.
4

FBA Configuration for Tessitura Web API interface

  • The Client configures FBA with the end point to connect to the Tessitura Web API.
  • This is a quick configuration step, typically completed in minutes.
5

Accounting Rules Configuration

The Client configures organization-specific accounting rules within FBA. These rules define how Tessitura transactions are transformed into journal entries that can be exported directly into accounting systems such as Financial Edge. In FBA, this transformation process is referred to as mapping.

Available accounting rules include:

  • Journal Entry Type Mapping
  • Affix Mapping
  • Group Rules
  • Accounting Date and Period Rules
6

Testing and Refinement

  • The Client tests generated journal entries and refines accounting rules as needed.
  • Comprehensive training and consulting services are available throughout this phase.
  • Depending on the complexity and scope of the financial rules, this step may take from several hours to several days.
7

Configuration Snapshot

  • Once testing is complete, the Client can create a snapshot of the configuration in FBA.
  • This snapshot can be restored at any time if changes need to be rolled back.
8

Journal Entry Export

  • The Client can download journal entries as an Excel file for manual import into Financial Edge, or
  • Configure the Financial Edge API to allow FBA to export journal entries directly into Financial Edge.
9

FBA is now ready for daily use, providing a streamlined, automated bridge between Tessitura and Financial Edge.
